The scope and sequence of the standards are in line with the district sequence. The only difference is this class will not cover as many standards as the district. This is due to a research project to investigate the effect of going more in depth on fewer standards. Each course will have a maximum of eight standards with 10 standards as a support to the standards that will be emphasized. For example, one standard is using formulas. Standards that support this standard are solving for one equation and solving problems involving specific formulas.
The scope is also tied to assessment. Assessment used this year is based on Classroom Assessments and Grading That Works & Making Standards Useful in the Classroom by Robert Marazano & Mark Haystead.
